Kinsman Quarterly is conducting a global competition in search for unique, contemporary poetry for the upcoming collection, SLAM! Winners receive up to $300 in cash prizes and publication in the poetry series. Poets can submit original, unpublished works in English up to 10 pages. We are looking for captivating rhythm and form, along with hard-hitting themes of culture, resilience, passion, and justice. Poets are encouraged to deviate from predictable patterns of rhyme and to explore free verse and playfulness with language. Entry fee is $5.99. Submissions now extended through May 31, 2024.

Selected finalists will be featured in the Kinsman Quarterly, its social media sites, printed promotions, and the 2024 collection. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, however submissions should be withdrawn if accepted elsewhere. To ensure we are able to register the unpublished work, winning contestants and finalists are asked to wait a full year after winning announcements before they republish the work themselves or with another organization. Copyrights of the individual submissions remain with the authors and artists, and copyrights for the SLAM! collection as a whole are reserved to Kinsman Avenue Publishing, Inc.
